Once upon a time in a land very far away, there was an island. And on that island, there was a forest. On the cluttered forest floor, under a rather large tree but next to a particularly small pond, there lived an ant. This ant's name was Dave.
Dave the Ant was a fairly mundane being. He ate sugar and did house work and, if he was feeling particularly inspired, he liked to read Shakespeare and paint landscapes. Dave the Ant was an unmarried, unemployed, and generally lonely insect whose life ambition was to pen a jukebox musical featuring Dido's greatest hits. However, Dave was fairly content with his simple life, with his small house and with his exceptionally boring name. Another important thing to note is that Dave the Ant was God.
One day, Dave stepped out to fetch some milk from the local market, unknowingly carrying out godly duties while doing so. Dave the Ant crossed the log bridge across the pond, which caused millions of suns to rise over millions of distant worlds. Dave checked both ways before crossing a particularly busy path, making lightning strike an innocent woman dead somewhere far away. Dave climbed over a dead tree, nearing his destination and causing fire to rain from the sky on the next planet over.
When the market came into his view, Dave picked up pace and made to cross another, less busy path. Unfortunately, Dave the Ant was so absorbed in Shakespeare's use of metaphor in relation to distinguishing the difference between Man and Monster in The Tempest that he'd forgotten to look both before crossing this time. And while this distraction happened to save an entire population from being flooded, it resulted in Dave the Ant being trodden on by a passing explorer and instantly killed.
Dave the Ant was stuck to the bottom of a hiking boot and the entire universe was suddenly thrown into chaos.
well, it was just silly to make an ant God.
